MIDFIELDER COMMITS TO GIVE A CARROL A LIFT AS THISTLE ANTICIPATE END OF MINI-SLUMP

Buckie Thistle midfielder David MacRae has signed a three-year extension to his contract, which was due to expire at the end of the season.

The 26-year-old Inverness based former Nairn County player is happy to pledge his future to the Highland League champions.

MacRae said: "Winning the league last year was a highlight of my career.  I really enjoy being at the club and the reason behind my delay in signing was my wife is expecting a baby in the middle of May and with all the travelling I have to do it really was a big decision.

"We've had a talk and decided remaining at Buckie would be best for me."

Buckie's challenge has faltered recently but MacRae believes there will be a revival.

He added: "We have a big squad with a lot of quality players, so I have no doubt we can pick up our form and go on to win consecutive titles."

All of the current Jags players are now secured on contracts, leaving manager Gregg Carrol to concentrate on the task of retaining the title.

Carrol said: "We have been waiting since Christmas time for him to come back to us.  We left it in his hands but now he has decided to agree a new contract and we're very happy.

"David gives us a bit of composure in the middle of the park and he is a good passer with an excellent range.

"Our form of late has been disappointing but there are nine games to go.  Every club goes through a period like this and, hopefully, we can soon reach the end of it.  The Highland League is so competitive.  We are disappointed that we have dropped so many points lately but I'm sure we'll soon be over it and there is an awful lot of football still to be played."
