DRIFTER VISITS BUCKIE/PHOTOS
Buckie harbour played host to a piece of fishing history last week when the 109-year-old sailing drifter 'Reaper' came to visit.
The flagship of the Scottish Fisheries Museum in Anstruther, Fife, the vessel called into Buckie as part of an educational and promotional tour of the former herring ports on the Moray Firth. Schoolchildren and members of the public alike were welcomed aboard the 'Reaper' free of charge to see for themselves what life would have been like for the eight-man crew aboard the lovingly restored drifter, the class which was once the mainstay of the herring fleet on the east coast of Scotland.
The Highland League trophy was brought down to welcome the boat to Buckie and several photographs were taken.
