MATCH REPORT - JAGS 2 COVE RANGERS 0

Buckie Thistle will face Keith or Turriff United away from home in the semi-finals of the Evening Express Aberdeenshire Cup after beating holders Cove Rangers at Victoria Park last night thanks to a Zander Sutherland penalty and a goal by David MacRae.

In the 22nd minute Cove's Paul Emslie was yellow-carded for a scything tackle on Gary Clark.

Cove central defender Eric Watson was booked by referee Michael McNab for fouling Zander Sutherland after 33 minutes and 60 seconds later Watson was shown a second yellow and subsequently, a red card, apparently for remarks made to the official.

In the 51st minute Buckie Thistle were awarded a penalty when Sutherland was brought down by Cove goal-keeper Stuart McKenzie.  Sutherland got up and sent McKenzie the wrong way from the resultant spot kick.

Cove were awarded a free kick on the edge of the box but Daniel Park's effort was blocked by the Buckie wall.

The home side went straight up the park and MacRae hit one over from 25 yards.

The Jags made it 2-0 after 66 minutes when Sutherland's cross-field ball picked out MacRae, who waited for McKenzie to commit himself before scoring from 10 yards.

A minute from time Milne almost pulled one back for the visitors but his 15-yard chip clipped the top of the bar and went over.
