MATCH REPORT - BUCKIE THISTLE 1 LOSSIEMOUTH 2

A delighted Lossiemouth manager Charlie Charlesworth was full of praise for his charges following their 2-1 away win at Victoria Park.

But Charlesworth has called on them to increase their consistency levels in order to continue their progress up the Highland League table.

He said: "We played a 4-5-1 and made sure we got support to our striker from the right areas and the gameplan worked.

"We were on top of the game for most of the time and I have no complaints at all. We got them fired up before the game pointing out that we were as good as them but they were more consistent

"It is time now that we were more consistent. I know it does take time, but you can't go to Cove and Buckie and without looking to do that on a weekly basis"

Buckie assistant manager Gary Hake called on the champions to lift their game.

He said: "Every team is desperate to beat us and is putting in an incredible amount of effort and we have got to rise above that. The players are possibly looking for someone else to provide the spark instead of taking the responsibility and we now have to take the bull by the horns."

Lossiemouth took the lead in the fifth minute when Martin McMullen's run from midfield went untracked and he took advantage of some space in the penalty area to smash home a flick-on from 16 yards.

Buckie were back on level terms just two minutes later when Zander Sutherland drilled a 25-yard effort beyond Darren McConnachie after he was given time to pick his spot.

The Lossie winner was a personal disaster for Lewis Mackinnon whose attempt to play a free kick along the defence saw the ball intercepted by Nikki Smith.

Smith punished his hometown team with a delightful finish to upset the Champs.
