MATCH REPORT - STRATHSPEY THISTLE 1 BUCKIE THISTLE 3

Buckie Thistle got back to winning ways with a comfortable victory against Strathspey at Seafield Park.

Buckie were two goals ahead after quarter of an hour but despite incessant pressure could find the target only once more and Strathspey scored late-on with their only effort on goal.

Buckie manager Gregg Carrol said: "Martin Charlesworth ran his socks off and didn't get any reward, I think he deserved a goal for all his effort, but you have got to give credit also to Craig Macmillan who grabbed a couple of goals. It was a good team effort, the only downside being we lost a bad goal at the end. The players thought the game was finished and that upsets me."

Strathspey manager Brian Ritchie Said: "Buckie were worthy of their win. They were in the ascendency throughout but we scored the best goal of the game which helped us get that little bit of confidence. This game was a learning process and we will take it on the chin.

"We are looking all the time to bring new faces to the club, but the disappointing thing I am finding is an awful lot of players would rather have a coin in their back pocket and sit on the bench for a stronger team than come and play for Strathspey. That to me is a sin. We have tried to sign four or five and the only thing they want to talk is money, which I'm afraid is a sad reflection on the game."

Buckie got off to the perfect start in the fifth minute with Macmillan finding space in the box to power in a close range header from Zander Sutherland's cross.

Nicolas Mochan's headed own goal doubled the Jags advantage seven minutes later but chance after chance was squandered by the visitors until the 50th minute when Macmillan scored his second goal.

Mateusz Bobrowski's clever headed goal after 83 minutes provided a crumb of comfort for the home side.
