Buckie Thistle 3 Forres Mechanics 0. Jags start 2008 with a win.
Buckie faced a Forres Mechanics side who had won the previous league encounter at Mosset Park, the Jags only league defeat of the season so far, 5-2. The Jags had three changes from their previous fixture against Huntly, out were Bruce, Stewart and Matheson, in were Ritchie Davidson, Macdonald and Andy Low.
The Jags were quickly out of the blocks with a determined performance, dominating the match completely, as well as playing some great football that could have seen five or six goals scored in that period.
After several good reflex saves by Forres keeper Knight the Jags went ahead after 14 minutes when a Mike Macdonald corner was headed home from the six yard box by CRAIG MACMILLAN.
The jags continued to dominate with wave after wave of attacking football and increased their lead on 20 minutes when LEWIS MACKINNON who was later voted as man of the match, cracked a great shot, from the edge of the box right in the top corner of the net.
After this period of domination Forres came back into the match and Bob Duncan did well to clear a Neil Whyte drive off the goal-line after Kevin Main had punched clear to the edge of the box.
Half time 2 - 0
The second half started as the first had ended with Forres having most of the play and Kevin Main was required to make a number of fairly routine saves.
Forres should have pulled a goal back on 55 minutes when Lewis Mackinnon was dispossed when trying to shield the ball out for a corner, the ball was cut back from the byline and Kevin Main produced an outstanding point blank save to deny Forres midfielder Calder.
Duncan Shearer then made several changes with Shewan replacing Macrae, Bruce for Ritchie Davidson, who had started his first match in several months after injury and new signing Andrew Courage replacing Macdonald.
ANDREW COURAGE was on the pitch for around thirty seconds before scoring his first goal for the Jags, Tony Low beat a couple of players at the edge of the box, drove into the penalty area, only to see Knight in the Forres goal parry the shot and Courage followed up to net from close range.
The Jags then had what looked a perfectly good goal chalked off when Courage returned the compliment to Tony Low, only for the near stand match offical flag for offside.
Buckie should have increased their lead even further when they were awarded an exremely dubious penalty when Forres keeper Knight, who clearly had both hands on the ball, was judged to have fouled Macmillan.
Justice was probably done when Stephen "Marra" Bruce shot wide from the penalty spot.
