Match Report --- Buckie Thistle 3 Lossiemouth 1, Jags go back to top of the league
The teams lined up on a pitch which had a dusting of snow, with yellow line markings and a yellow match ball.
Although the home side kicked off they found themselves a goal behind in only 20 seconds! A long ball found DAVID BLACKHALL and he skipped past Mackinnon before unleashing an unstoppable shot past the helpless Main in the Buckie goal, some start for the coasters!
Buckie responded with very good play on a tricky surface, it was however obvious after only five minutes that the conditions would be a "leveller". Despite having most of the possesion the Jags did not create any real clear cut chances in the first 20 minutes, it was in fact Buckie goalkeeper Kevin Main who was called upon to save well, blocking with his legs to stop the away side from doubling their advantage.
A really late challenge on Mike Macdonald saw a Lossie player lucky to escape with only a booking.
The jags then had three goal scoring chances in five minutes when Macdonald should have scored, Macrae had a shot blocked by the keepers legs and Tony Low went close.
The jags equalised in 35 minutes when CRAIG MACMILLAN headed home a quickly taken David Macrae free kick from close range.
Although the Jags dominated the rest of the first half the could not add to their tally.
HALF TIME 1-1
The second half started in a similar vein with the Jags dominating most of the play, playing some really good football.
Buckie went ahead on 65 minutes when man of the match Andy Low drove in a cross which was bundled into the net courtesy of an OWN GOAL by lossie player Dixon.
The jags increased their lead on 71 minutes when an inch perfect pass from David Macrae found CRAIG MACMILLAN who wasted no time in despatching the ball into the net.
Several changes were then made, firstly Neil Davidson for Tony Low, Andy Matheson for rRtchie Davidson and finally Jamie Shewan for Mike Macdonald.
Neil "Zico" Davidson made an immediate impact, firstly he hit a great shot from 25 yards which brought out an even better save from Masterton in the Lossie goal, then the same player had the ball in the net, only to have his effort chalked off for being in an offside position.
So for the Jags it was very much a case of "job done", with the three points collected and a return to the top of the league table.
For Lossiemouth an encouraging and much improved performance which must give hope for the rest of the season.
The jags team was... MAIN, NEILL, DUNCAN, MACKINNON, R.DAVIDSON (MATHESON 74), SMALL, T LOW (N DAVIDSON 70), MACRAE, A LOW, MACMILLAN, MACDONALD (SHEWAN 75). UNUSED SUBS ...BRUCE and STRONG.
