Buckie signing Boost
Thistle tonight (Monday 9th July) signed former Caley Thistle, Nairn County and Peterhead player, Tony Low on a twelve month deal.
The winger, who has had a previous association with Duncan Shearer, made 14 appearances for the Blue Toon, after signing from the Highland League outfit, in January this year, but the long distances involved prompted him to return to Highland League football.
A new contract offer had been made to Tony but he decided that part time football in the Scottish league set up was not for him and agreed to put pen to paper for his former boss, Duncan Shearer.
"I am delighted to be re-acquainted with Tony as I have followed his progress, along with Graeme Stewart and Craig MacMillan, since I returned to the Highland League, myself and, knowing what they are capable of, am convinced that they will be great assets to the jags in our push for honours, this coming season." commented the team boss.
Shearer has made no secret of his desire to add goals to his side's often faltering attack and with the likes of Tony and Mike Macdonald, our other wingman, making driving runs up either flank, the likes of Marra and Craig MacMillan should benefit greatly.
Shearer continued "Tony had the option of a new offer at Peterhead, but decided it wasn't for him and was keen to come here after discussions, and I feel it will be a great decision, both for him and the Jags." Concluding, "He (Tony) is an able player, with two good feet and pace, allowing him to operate on either flank and we are all delighted that he finally decided to pull on a Buckie shirt but I would emphasise that he may not be the last signing we make this summer."
Although he would neither confirm or deny it, Duncan is still believed to be keen to talk to David Macrae, the Nairn County player, currently injured, but scheduled to undertake trials with Ross County, now under the leadership of Dick Campbell, the former Partick and Brechin manager.
