Match Report - Buckie Thistle 3 Brora Rangers 0

Buckie Thistle got back to winning ways with an impressive home win in very windy and difficult conditions.

It looked like the Jags were in front in only three minutes.  Andy Matheson caught Michael Gray off his line, but his chip came back off the crossbar, Craig MacMillan snatching at his effort and firing the rebound over.

Buckie then hit the crossbar once again ten minutes later, brought out a great save from Brora keeper Gray and Stephen "Marra" Bruce then headed home only for the far side linesman to flag for offside.

The home side made it 1 - 0 in 37 minutes when the ball was played across the face of the goal, Gray struggling to follow the path, and Craig MacMillan who eventually stabbed the ball into the keeper's right corner.

One up, but it was almost all square within a minute as the visitors broke down the right and, when the ball was played in from the right, it hit a Buckie defender and was heading over the line only for a last gasp scramble away.

Half time 1 - 0

With the Jags playing into the fierce wind, there were immediate signs they were going to use it to their advantage by trying to control their passes better, too many running away in the opening period.

And it was 2 - 0 in 54 minutes, Gray parrying a MacMillan effort to Man of the Match Ritchie Davidson, who hammered home the rebound from close range.

At the other end, Brora almost reduced the leeway, when Kevin Main made a clearance which flew straight back at him.

As he retreated, watching the spin of the ball, it fell to Scott Begg whose shot was blocked and Tony Farquhar wasted a good chance by firing over.

Within a minute of coming on as a sub, Andy Low, playing on the left wing, crossed perfectly into the centre for Craig MacMillan to knock the ball home with Gray unable to keep it out this time.

Gray kept the score at thee by acrobatically saving from Stewart with five minutes left.

Summary

The Jags picked up a vital three points and provided their best performance in very difficult conditions since the Morton match in early December.

With seven league matches left it is important that this form is maintained in every minute of the remaining games.
