Match report -- Fort William 1 Buckie Thistle 2

The match kicked off with Claggan Park in glorious sunshine and Buckie were quickly "out of the blocks", creating four chances in the first eight minutes but Macrae, Mcmillan and Macdonald all shot wide of the target and Bruce had an effort saved by Munro in the Fort goal.

Following this period of pressure the home side went ahead in 13 minutes.  Shewan appeared to misgudge a long ball, Cameron crossed and HEWITT scored from around five yards.

Buckie were given the opportunity to level the score sixty seconds later when Macmillan was felled in the box, but Mackinnon hit the bottom of the post with his spot kick.  There then followed a period of sustained pressure as the Jags created chance after chance but a mixture of good goalkeeping, bad finishing and bad luck kept the home sides lead intact.

Despite all of the pressure the home side almost increased their lead, but Main saved well in the Buckie goal.

The Jags corner kick tally reached ten in the first twenty minutes and again numerous chances were passed up.

Buckie drew level in 42 minutes when Steven "Marra" Bruce crossed and CRAIG MACMILLAN headed into the net.

                                                                 HALF TIME 1-1

The second half started in the same vein with the Jags creating several chances but they did not score their second goal, balls were cleared off the line, hit the wood -work, and several great saves by the home keeper kept the scores level.

Bruce then had the ball in the net from a header only to see this dissallowed for a push.

Despite all the pressure the home side were lively on the break and tested Main three or four times from distance.

Mark Hamilton replaced Macdonald and then Andy Courage came on for "Marra" who had worked hard, as the Jags "shuffled the pack".

Again chances continued to be created and missed, but with eight minutes left Fort almost went ahead as a side-volley clipped the top of the bar with Main beaten.

Buckie to their credit kept driving forward in search of the winner and this came in 89 minutes when a Macrae cross was headed over the keeper by ANDY LOW, much to the relief of the Jags support, players and management.

Summary -- The jags made heavy weather of the match by missing an incredible amount of goal scoring opportunitys, enough chances to win three games (around 40) were missed and the end result was a nervy finish and a "get out of jail" goal to win the match, more composure is certainly required by in front of goal from now on.

Credit to Fort William, who despite being dissapointed with losing a late goal will be encouraged by a spirited performance.

Taking the positives from the match, it was another three points won which puts the Jags back on top of the league with 50 points.  Next up is away to Wick, which is always a hard match and the Jags will need to be at their best to win.
