Match Report -- Keith 2 Buckie Thistle 1

Match of the day was Keith versus Buckie Thistle and the game kicked off with a large travelling support at Kynoch Park.  The Jags started brightly but were a goal behind after 7 minutes when LEWIS MACKINNON tried to stop a Dean Donaldson cross from the left and slid the ball into his own net for an own goal, just the start the jags did not want.

Buckie responded immediately, playing some good football and several chances wre created, Shearer in the Keith goal made three saves from Macrae, Stewart and Andy Low.

Keith almost increased their lead but Bob Duncan made a great block inside the six yard box.  Again Buckie were dominating most of the play, with the home side dangerous on the break.

Andy Low then tested Shearer and Tony Low lashed a shot in from twenty yards which just missed the target.

                                                           HALF - TIME 1-0

Ritchie Davidson almost had the Jags level five minutes after the re-start only for his shot to miss the goal by inches.

The game was being played at a furious pace with Buckie in conrtol, with David Macrae dominating in midfield but Keith were still looking dangerous on the break.

Keith went two goals ahead when substitute DEREK SMITH scored with his shot coming off the post and into the net in 75 minutes.

Buckie were back in the game a minute later when TONY LOW shot from the edge of the box squeezed below shearers body and into the net.

From there on it was nearly all Buckie and the Keith defence resembled the Alamo as the Jags bombarded their goal.  Shots were saved, blocked and cleared by the home defence but  they held out to win the three points.

SUMMARY -- A very dissapointing result for all Jags fans but Buckie were extremely unlucky to lose a match in which they were by far the better side, playing the better football but not getting the breaks that their play deserved.

The Jags now have three matches left to play and must look to pick up maximum points in the hope that Keith (with seven games still to play) slip up.

Play like they did on Saturday and there is every chance that the Jags can achieve this, next up is away to Brora this Saturday, followed by home to Cove and away to Fraserburgh.

The Buckie team was ... MAIN, NEILL, DUNCAN, MACKINNON, R DAVIDSON (MACDONALD 68), SMALL, T LOW, MACRAE, BRUCE(SHEWAN 74), A LOW, STEWART.  UNUSED SUBS... MATHESON, N DAVIDSON and STRONG.
