Jags Boss -- Praises Buckie Support

Buckie Thistle President Mark Duncan today praised the teams supporters, he said "We asked the supporters to get behind the team and they did that both in big numbers and with great backing throughout yesterdays match, proving once again that we have one of the best supports in Highland League football".

"Somone said recently that crowds in the Highland League were on the way down, well we must be one of the exceptions to this as our crowds and the support of the team continues to grow, the support we had at yesterdays match was just the latest example of this."

"Last season our attendances for home games were up by around a third and they have continued to increase this season."

"This is not a coincedence, we laid down the foundations with the various ground improvements which have been made in the last few years, including  the building of the Function Hall and Sponsors Lounge, this has resulted in more of a 'family enviroment' and far more people then coming to Buckie matches."

"We have taken a long term look at things, the youngsters coming with their parents to matches are after all our supporters of the future."

Duncan continued "The work we have done is for the benefit of the whole of the local community, not for ourselves, and this is what the LOCAL FOOTBALL CLUB is all about, you have to try and get as many people involved in the club and community as possible, only then will you see an increase in attendances".

"Good foundations have been laid down for the future, the boys club numbers have doubled in the last four years, and we have created three new teams at under 13, 14 and 15 levels in the last three years  and this will continue to grow as football becomes even more popular when the all-weather pitch arrives this year."

"Our own crowds will, in my opinion, also  continue to increase in years to come as a result of this, so the future for the club looks very  good."
