MATCH REPORT -- FORFAR ATHLETIC 0 BUCKIE THISTLE 0

The match kicked off in glorious sunshine, the complete opposite to the heavy rain in Buckie before we left.  In charge of the Jags team, due to both Kevin and Doug Will both being on holiday were former Jags player Scott Taylor (soon to join Aberdeen FC as a youth coach ) and Duncan Ord who has recently joined the Jags coaching staff.

The home side forced an early corner which was cleared comfortably.  The Jags started well, playing some good possesion football on an excellent playing surface in the first 20 minutes.

The jags should have gone ahead in 25 minutes when Paul Napier sprung the offside trap and tried to round the keeper who dived at his feet to make a good save.  Napier, making his debut for the Jags, along with defender Iain Good, was then brought down in the box and a penalty was awarded.  David Macrae stepped up and struck the ball well, only to see the home keeper bring off a good save , although it was at a good height for the keeper to save.

The remainder of the first half continued with the Jags having the better of the possesion.

                                                                HALF - TIME 0-0

The Jags started the second half with David Angus on for John (JJ) Urquart, once again the Jags were having the better of the play, although the home side had a few attempts on goal from the edge of the box.

"Zico" Davidson and Bob Duncan were brought on for Shewan and Macdonald, then Andy Matheson and Matty Edmond replaced Neill and Hamilton.

Davidson should have put Buckie ahead but headed staight at the home keeper from 10 yards, then Edmond missed a similar  headed chance at the back post.

Bob Duncan then won the ball in midfield and played a great ball through to Edmond who was through "one on one" with the keeper only the narrowly miss the goal.

The last twenty minutes of the game saw the home side come more into the game, forcing several corners, then Kevin Main brought off a great save with almost the last kick of the match to keep the scores level.

                                                             FINAL - SCORE 0-0

SUMMARY -- A good work-out for both sides, Buckie certainly showed their fans that they have a side which can play good football, every player performed well, with Macrae, Small and new signings Napier and Good catching the eye.

When you consider that Charlie Brown, Craig Macmillan and Andy Low have still to be added to the squad, then there should certainly be plenty of competition for places for the season ahead.

The club and all the players wish to thank all the fans and everyone who travelled to Forfar to support the team, and would also like to thank Forfar for the hospitality shown, we wish Dick Campbell and his side all the best for the season ahead.
