MATCH REPORT -- DEVERONVALE 2 BUCKIE THISTLE 1
Buckie lose to a winning second goal from noble five minutes from time after bruce had given buckie an early lead .
The jags team was unchanged from the midweek win at fraserburgh, there was a good crowd inside the ground when the match kicked off in glorious sunshine.
Buckie settled quickly into the match had the better of the the opening 20 minutes, brian neill tested blanchard with a 20 yard shot, then playing some good football the jags deservedly went ahead in 15 minutes ,when charlie brown won the ball in midfield and played the ball to paul napier who sprinted down the right wing and delivered a low cross which STEVEN BRUCE side footed the ball into the net for a great goal.
Buckie almost increased their lead five minutes later but a low cross just evaded both buckie forwards at the back post.
Deveronvale were level in 26 minutes and from the jags point of view it was a poor goal to concede, a freekick was awarded just outside the buckie box and it was taken quickly, and the ball was crossed in for SCOTT FRASER who headed the ball in at the back post.
It is fair to say that deveronvale did not deserve to be level at this stage of the match but they began to dominate most of the play for the remainder of the half, with fraser again coming close and kevin main saved well by pushing a volley from duncanson onto the post.
HALF TIME 1-1
The second half started as the first had ended with deveronvale having the better of the what was now a scrappy match .
Jags keeper main produced a great save from chisholm, clawing the ball off the goal-line when a goal looked likely.
Buckie continued to give the ball away when in possession, then deveronvale keeper blanchard almost scored what would have been an amazing goal from a long clearance which main had to tip over.
Deveronvale forced several corners and the jags were fortunate not to be behind , sepecially when fraser crashed a great shot off the post and the rebound was blocked.
Charlie brown almost gave buckie the lead but his chip over blanchard was wide of the goal and the vale defence managed to clear the danger.
The winning goal came with just five minutes remaining when the ball was played up to deveronvale substitute GRANT NOBLE who moved the ball side-ways before placing the ball into the corner of the net for a great finish.
FULL TIME 2-1
SUMMARY --- once again the jags started the match well , playing good football but they seemed to lose their way after deveronvale equalised and ,on the whole ,it is a match that deveronvale deserved to win.
There were several good performances from jags players ,main brought off a couple of vital saves, angus and small played well at the back and davidson and napier did well ,the jags will however know that they will have to play a lot better in the weeks and months ahead if they are to challenge for trophies, starting with NEXT SATURDAYS HOME LEAGUE MATCH AGAINST WICK ACADEMY (kick off 3,00pm), which should see new signings donnie munro and martin charlesworth feature.
