JAGS CALL FOR SEMI-FINAL -- DATE CHANGE
Buckie Thistle have confirmed that they have written to the Aberdeenshire Football Association to request a change of date for the semi-final of this seasons Aberdeenshire Shield competition.
Three quarter final ties will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week with the Jags due to face Banks O Dee in the other quarter final match a week on Wednesday (15th October), Huntly face Fraserburgh in the other tie in the Jags section of the draw.
The date for the first semi-final has however been set for Wednesday 22nd October, JUST THREE DAYS BEFORE TWO OF THE FOUR SIDES FACE A VITAL SECOND ROUND SCOTTISH CUP TIE, so the Jags have written to request that this date is now moved to a date in a different week.
Buckie President Mark Duncan today said "whether we are actually in the semi or not , there is no way that two of the four teams should be playing a semi-final match just three days before two very important Scottish Cup ties".
"All four teams are still involved in the Scottish Cup and we should be trying to get as many of them through to the next round as possible."
"The quarter final tie between Inverurie and Keith has already been brought forward a week due to the Challenge Cup final, and last years final itself was put back a week, due to a live televised match between Barcelona and Rangers, so the date concerned should now also be changed."
"I would confirm that we wrote to the Aberdeenshire FA last week, but as to date we still have recieved no response to our request."
Buckie Thistle face Lochee United away in a vital match in the second round of the Scottish Cup on 25th October, just three days after the date currently set for this years semi-final.
