SCOT-ADS HIGHLAND LEAGUE MATCH -- REPORT-- DEVERONVALE 0 BUCKIE THISTLE 2

The Buckie starting line-up had four changes from last weeks match against Clach, back in were Angus, Macrae, Munro and Charlesworth.

The Jags started brightly and mounted several attacks in the opening 10 minutes, forcing several corners and had a couple of long range efforts which Blanchard, in the Deveronvale goal, dealt with comfortably.

Buckie then had a lucky escape minutes later when Chisholm had a shot diverted away from goal by Cowie from two yards, then Chisholm headed narrowly over.

The Jags went ahead in 16 minutes, Charlie Brown crossed and JAMIE SHEWAN side footed the ball high into the net with his left foot, giving blanchard no chance.

Buckie continued to play well and Lamberton showed what he was made of with a crunching tackle on the centre line.

Napier was sent clear down the left and jinked into the box, leaving Chisholm bemused and went down in the box, but no penalty was awarded.

Chisholm then headed powerfully against the crossbar as Deveronvale attacked.

Buckie were unlucky not to be two up seven minutes before half-time, Shewan had a flick blocked on the goal-line by Noble then Blanchard  produced a save from a great shot by David Macrae from the edge of the box.

                           HALF-TIME 0-1

The second half started with the Jags again in attack and they increased their lead within four minutes, a Buckie move appeared to break-down but Deveronvale were caught in possesion, the ball was passed to Martin Charlesworth who squared the ball to CHARLIE BROWN who curled the ball into the corner of the net, giving Blanchard no chance, and sending the Jags fans into raptures.

Deveronvale made an immediate change, bringing on Mike Mackenzie for Noble then bringing on striker Robbie Duncan as they tried to get back into the match.

The Jags goal had an amazing escape with 15 minutes left, Watt drove down the left wing and crossed low only to see John Coutts smash the ball against the bar from close range.

Buckie continued to threaten and had numerous attempts at increasing their lead during the second half with Napier, Brown and Charlesworth all going close.

                        FULL-TIME 0-2

SUMMARY -- An excellent performance from the Jags, the whole team deserves a lot of credit for this performance.  Despite having a couple of lucky escapes, the Jags thoroughly deserved to win the match, as they were the better side throughout the 90 minutes and played some great football.

Every single Buckie player played well and this was without doubt the best Jags performance of the season so far, this was a real TEAM performance and full credit for this must go to GREGG CARROL and all his coaching staff for this.
