Last Saturday's Match --- REPORT --- BUCKIE THISTLE 4 BRORA RANGERS 0
There was one change to last weeks team, with Neill in for Angus.
Brora started brightly and had the better of the opening 20 minutes, and Kevin Main brought off a really good one handed save to keep the scores level, despite this the Jags went ahead in 18 minutes when a cross from Mike Macdonald was guided into the net by MARTIN CHARLESWORTH.
Paul Lamberton, who was later awarded the sponsors "Man of the Match" award then hit the top of the cross bar with a drive from 20 yards.
Brown then tried his luck with an angled drive, which flashed narrowly wide.
There was a moment of controversy in 32 minutes when David Macrae, who had been booked earlier, was shown a red card by the match referee, Cammy Mackay, for a slight foul in the middle of the park. Macrae trooped off as the Brora players looked on in dismay and the supporters from both sides voiced their feelings at the decision.
HALF - TIME 1-0
The Jags started the second half on the attack and doubled their lead two minutes in, good work by Macdonald and a pass saw Charlie Brown have his shot blocked, but MARTIN CHARLESWORTH followed up to drive the ball into the bottom of the net.
Buckie began to dominate the play and Munro and Napier were busy in the midfield. Shewan then had to leave the field with an injury and although he returned he was substituted by Bob Duncan minutes later.
Charlie Brown also left the field and was replaced by Mark Hamilton.
Napier who had an excellent second half, then cut inside and hit a tremendous shot which smashed off the post with Brora's keeper well beaten, MARK HAMILTON was immediately onto the rebound and finished really well blasting the ball into the net to put the jags three up.
Hamilton was then fouled by a Brora player and referee Mackay evened things up by again showing the red card to a Brora player.
Macdonald was replaced by Davidson as the Jags continued to push forward, Brora continued to play good football in the second half without really looking like scoring.
Buckie completed the scoring with ten minutes remaining when Charlesworth was felled in the box, and after a short period for treatment to an injured Brora player, MARTIN CHARLESWORTH stepped up for a well taken penalty to complete his hat-trick, much to the delight of the Jags support.
FULL -TIME 4-0
SUMMARY -- A good win for the Jags, Brora started the better side in the first 20 minutes, playing with the wind at their backs, and it could be argued that the first Buckie goal was against the run of play.
The sending off was controversial and this was reflected by the response of the supporters from both clubs at half-time.
Buckie played really well in the second half and you would not have known that they were playing with ten men for almost an hour. Martin Charlesworth took his goals well, as did Mark Hamilton. A good team performance, especially in the second half, with Napier catching the eye and the Jags once again being driven on by Captain Kevin Small and "Man of the Match" Paul Lamberton.
This was the Jags second league win in a row this season and the first home win for new buckie manager GREGG CARROL.
