SATURDAY MATCH -- REPORT -- LOSSIEMOUTH 0 BUCKIE THISTLE 2
The match kicked off with a light dusting of snow on the pitch, the Jags starting line-up saw Bob Duncan and Mark Hamilton in for David Macrae (suspended for one match ) and Charlie Brown, who started on the bench.
The Jags started brightly enough and had most of the possession, Jamie Shewan had a header which flew wide of the goal then a Lossie player got the better of a tussel with Duncan then flashed a shot across the face of the Buckie goal.
Despite having most of the play the Jags rarely threatened and the Lossie keeper clutched a number of crosses from corner kicks.
Buckie almost scored in 25 minutes when Napier crossed low across the box, with the Lossie keeper beaten but the ball was cleared by a defender just ahead of Jamie Shewan.
The Jags could have opened the scoring five minutes before the interval when Charlesworth harried the Lossie defence, this let Paul Napier clear but the home keeper saved his attempted chip.
HALF -TIME 0-0
Gregg Carrol rang the changes at half-time with Matheson and Davidson on for Neill and Hamilton.
The change almost paid off minutes into the second half when Andy Matheson hit a shot from 25 yards which was tipped over for a corner.
Kevin Main then came off his line to produce a great block from Lossie's Matheson inside the box.
Buckie went ahead minutes later when Shewan was tripped in the box and the referee pointed to the spot, once again MARTIN CHARLESWORTH stepped for a well taken penalty, sending the keeper the wrong way as the ball hit the back of the net.
The Jags were now dominating the play and created a number of chances.
Paul Napier then threaded through a great pass to find NEIL DAVIDSON, who had made a great run into the box, and he calmly slotted the ball low into the net, much to the delight of the large travelling Buckie support.
There was then an amazing miss minutes later when after some good passing build-up play, Napier crossed but Donnie Munro did not get a good connection on the ball, and side footed wide from four yards.
Main then brought off another save with his legs from Scott Matheson to ensure another clean sheet, Cumming then replaced Shewan with ten minutes to play.
FULL-TIME 0-2
SUMMARY -- Very much a case of a "job done", not the best of performances in the first half, the changes by Gregg Carrol at half time saw an immediate improvement and the Jags played well in a 20 minute period in the second half- scoring two goals to win the game.
Another three points for the Jags and another clean sheet, with the defence playing well and Main producing two good saves.
Good performances from a number of Buckie players including Small, Lamberton, Duncan, Davidson, Matheson, Charlesworth and Napier who is quickly becoming a real favourite with all the Jags fans.
