Duncan Shearer was jubilant at the team performance on the day "A great performance, just what I was hoping for on the opening day of the season, all our new signings played well and Mike Macdonald scored a couple of great goals, as did Tony Low."

Duncan continued "Our general attitude was great as well and I think you can't ask for more. We scored three great goals, but had the chances to make the win even more emphatic and on another day, might have netted these too."

He concluded by referring to the influx of players to Victoria Park during the close season "I have been trying to get hold of most of our new lads for over a season, but we had to be patient, as some of them were on contracts. Now we have them playing for us so we will be looking for great things in the coming weeks and months; don't forget we have David Macrae to come through, as well as David Angus, so it's looking good so far."
