MATCH REPORT -- BUCKIE THISTLE 3 NAIRN COUNTY 2

The Jags starting line-up saw Charlie Brown and David Macrae returning to the side.  Buckie started well, having the better of the play in the opening 15 minutes, Munro tested the keeper from the edge of the box, and Macrae shot past the post.

Buckie really should have gone ahead after 20 minutes when Paul Napier delivered a great cross, only for Donnie Munro to volley the ball over the bar from five yards.

As sometimes happens in football the other side then went ahead shortly after.  A long ball should have been cleared by Kevin Main, but instead ex Jag LEWIS MACKINNON intercepted the keepers clearance and rolled the ball into an empty net, a "gift" of a goal for the away side.

Nairn then came close to scoring again but the ball flashed across the goal.

                         HALF -TIME 0-1

There were no changes to either line-up at the start of the second half.

Mackinnon came close to scoring his second five minutes in but his header narrowly missed the goal.

Buckie were level in 54 minutes, the ball was played to Charlie Brown, who turned well before laying the ball off to MARTIN CHARLESWORTH who moved quickly inside the box, clipping the ball over the keeper and into the net.

Only five minutes later and Nairn went ahead again when SHAUN KERR turned well in the box before finishing with a well placed shot into the corner of the net.

Ten minutes later and the Jags brought on Craig Macmillan (returning from a recent injury) for Napier.

The Jags were back on level terms in 76 minutes, Buckie keeper Main played a great ball up to CHARLIE BROWN who intercepted the pass and lobbed the keeper from  the right hand side of the pitch from 25 yards for a great goal.

Buckie's "tails were up" and they were now looking for the winner, it arrived in 81 minutes when a ball was played into the box, the jags had two shots blocked but DONNIE MUNRO was not going to be denied and he followed up to drive the ball into the net.

Craig Macmillan almost increased the Jags lead five minutes later but was denied by a great save from Donaldson who palmed his curling shot onto the post.

The match continued to flow from end to end, the final whistle came minutes later.

                        FULL - TIME 3-2

SUMMARY -- This was a hard fought win for the Jags against a Nairn side who have already proved to be difficult opponents to a number of sides this season.  It was an entertaining match which swung from end to end throughout.

Buckie probably just did enough to win it, the effort and commitment of the Jags players was there for all to see, coming from behind twice and showing the attitude required to win the match.

All credit to the Jags team and to manager GREGG CARROL.
