MATCH REPORT: HUNTLY 1 BUCKIE THISTLE 2

The Jags starting line-up showed one change with Charlie Brown in for Paul Napier who was missing for this fixture.

Huntly's goalkeeper Bremner showed he had lost none of his touch in kicking the ball up to the edge of the penalty box and Buckie's defence had to be on form to deal with this.

Mike Macdonald had Bremner at full stretch to bring off a save in ten minutes when he cut inside and hit a 20 yard drive into the top corner, the home keeper parried, then collected the ball before Donnie Munro who was following up.

The Jags went ahead on 20 minutes when a corner was cleared out to the edge of the box and BOB DUNCAN crashed a beauty low into the corner of the net, much to the delight of the large travelling Jags support.

The Jags should have increased the lead 5 minutes later when good build up play by Macmillan saw Charlesworth in on goal but he screwed his shot wide of the goal.

Huntly could have been level minutes later when Ewan tried to lob the onrushing Main at the edge of the box but his effort drifted wide.

                                     Half-time 0-1

Huntly were quick "out of the blocks" in the second half, forcing several corners, but it was Buckie who increased their lead in 55 minutes when a long clearance by Kevin Main was latched onto by CRAIG MACMILLAN and he guided the ball past the on rushing Bremner and into the net.

Huntly were back in the match ten minutes later when Craig crossed and RUSSELL GUILD netted at the back post.

Lombardi of Huntly then drove a low shot through a ruck of players but Main saved well.

Good build-up play by the Jags saw Shewan pass to Charlie Brown in the box but his low drive flashed narrowly wide.

The Jags then made a couple of substitutions, firstly bringing on Brian Neill for Macdonald then Macmillan left the field ten minutes later, to great applause from the Jags fans, being replaced by Bruce.

"Marra" was put through to the edge of the box within minutes of coming on but his low shot was saved comfortably by Bremner.

Munro then tried his luck with a couple long range efforts, both which flew over the bar.  Steven "Marra" Bruce should have wrapped the game up with eight minutes left after great work by Charlie Brown who won the ball on the bye-line and cut it back to him but Bremner saved well with his feet at point blank range.

The last few minutes of the match saw Huntly continue to "pepper" the edge of the Buckie box with long balls but the Jags defence cleared these attempts and the final whistle blew with the Jags on the attack at the edge of the Huntly penalty area.

SUMMARY -- Another good win for the Jags, huntly is always a tough fixture whether at home or away.

Another three points for the Jags in their eighth straight league win.  This was a hard fought win, with Buckie having to battle hard as well as playing some good football to win the match.  Another good team performance, with all the players again working hard.
