Looking forward to Saturday, Deveronvale are the visitors to Victoria Park on Challenge (Formerly Qualifying) Cup duty.

We have been frequent combatants in recent years in this competition and, dependent on the outcome of tonight's Aberdeenshire Cup match at Cove, we should have a strong side to face the men from Banff.

No doubt one of the main points of interest will be the return of John Coutts to the Viccy, in a red shirt. A fit John Coutts would be an asset to any side and although we all wish him well in his new venture, it does not necessarily extend to Saturday's contest where the Jags fans will without doubt be hoping that he draws a blank and fails to make an impact on our defence, or indeed the game.

As ever, it is important, financially, to all competing clubs, to do well in the qualifying matches and gain direct entry to the national competition, with the exposure that can be gained there.
