BUCKIE PRESIDENT PRAISES CARROL & COACHING STAFF

Buckie Thistle president Mark Duncan has today praised the impact of manager Gregg Carrol and the Jags' 10 game unbeaten run.

Buckie were fourth from the bottom of the table having taken only four points from their first seven starts before former Deveronvale double championship winner Carrol arrived.

Since then the Victoria Park men have taken 28 points from 10 matches, propelling them into fifth place.

Duncan said: "What Gregg has achieved so far is tremendous. He has made a lot of big changes already, the most significant of which was to get all the players training together, something which nobody else had really done before.

"It took a big commitment from Gregg and he has also re-signed 15 players on new extended contracts which was equally important for the future of the club, it just goes to show how good a manager he is, but we already knew this with the success he previously brought to Deveronvale.

"A lot of credit must also go to Gary Hake, Colin Smith and Graeme Roy on the coaching staff who are all also doing a great job.

"Gregg has also brought in Davie Young to work with Ally Murray meaning that we now have two physios, which again is another improvement at the club."

When asked about the relationship between the Jags president and manager Duncan said: "I am a similar character to Gregg in that what you see is what you get, our relationship has been excellent so far and long may that continue.

"Everyone is working very hard.  Higher standards have been set and that is exactly what we were looking for."

He added: "About 90% of our supporters were right behind Gregg getting the job anyway and I am sure he has now also won over the other 10% as his unbeaten run of games, nine consecutive wins and a draw has been tremendous, especially when you remember that this has been achieved with the exact same group of players.

"Gregg has done a great job, we are playing some very good attacking football and scoring goals."
