MATCH REPORT -- BUCKIE THISTLE 0 FORRES MECHANICS 3

The match kicked off in  sunny conditions but with a slight cross-wind. The early part of the match was a "battle" with not a lot of good passing football on display.

The Jags should have taken the lead in 18 minutes when Macmillan crossed but Charlesworth headed wide with the goal wide open.

Good then hit the bar with a header, Forres then broke but Hendry sliced his shot wide when well placed.

Chances were at a premium but the Jags were awarded a penalty two minutes before the interval, Charlesworth missed by side footing the ball wide, many inside the ground felt that justice had been done, as the award looked soft.

                                HALF TIME 0-0

Forres took the lead in 51 minutes when ROSS DUNCAN ran through from just over the half-way line and slotted the ball between Mains legs for the opener from the edge of the box.

Buckie came close to equalising in 68 minutes when Napier crossed but the shot from a Jags player was blocked on the six yard box, Forres broke upfield and RYAN GREEN shot low into the net.

The Jags were 3-0 down 5 minutes later when the Referee awarded yet another soft penalty and SIMON ALLAN made no mistake from the spot.

                              FULL TIME 0-3

SUMMARY --- A poor performance from the Jags in a match which had a real "end of season" feel about it.  Buckie should have been 2 goals ahead in the first half but did not take their two great chances to score, Forres were the better side in the second half and deserved to win the match.

This was the final game of a season in which the Jags made a terrible start, only taking four points from a possible twenty-one in the opening quarter of the season and GREGG CARROL and all his coaching staff deserve credit for taking the Jags to a respectable finished place of sixth in the league.

Wick Academy finished ahead of the Jags in fifth place, their highest ever finish in the league - so congratulations to them for this.

Pre-season training for the Jags players starts in only 5 week's time and the aim will be to challenge again for trophies in the new season ahead.

The buckie team was ... MAIN, GOOD, SMALL, LAMBERTON, DUGUID, MUNRO, MACRAE, NAPIER, DUNCAN, MACMILLAN and CHARLESWORTH. Subs(used) BROWN, BRUCE and SHEWAN (unused) HAMILTON and STRONG.
