AFTER MATCH COMMENTS - BUTCHER & HAKE

Following last Saturday's 2 - 0 win against Buckie Thistle Inverness Caledonian Thistle manager, Terry Butcher said "It was a good workout".

"I would rather go to places like - Buckie where you know you are going to get a stiff test - rather than play comfortable games where you might be knocking in eight or ten goals, which does not serve a purpose.  We now have matches on Tuesday and Wednesday and it will be a good test against Elgin and Huntly."

With Gregg Carrol on holiday Jags assistant manager, Gary Hake was in charge of Saturdays team.  He said "After we lost the two early goals we settled down and started to play.

"It was our first game back and it is hard enough against a senior team as it is.  I thought we coped well after the two goals went in.  I was really pleased with the second half because we had as much of the ball as they did.  We kept it a lot better but the downside was we didn't create enough chances.  We had a couple of chances and we probably should have scored two goals.  We worked hard and against a senior team so we can't be too disappointed.  It was a good shift and a good workout.

"Another pleasing thing was the fitness of the players because I thought we finished the game as strong as they did fitness-wise."

Hake revealed that the Buckie performance received high praise from their opponent.  He stated: "Iwas speaking to Terry (Butcher, Inverness Caledonian Thistle manager) after the game and he said that he was really impressed with our shape, how compact we were and how we kept the ball when we did have it.  He also said when we didn't have it, we were hard to break down so that is quite a compliment from Terry Butcher."
