MATCH REPORT -- DUNDEE VIOLET 1 BUCKIE THISTLE 3

The match kicked off in sunny conditions (there was no sign of the torrential rain in Buckie before we left), the Violets ground was tidy with a social club, enclosure and a very large pitch which was in excellent condition.

The Jags starting line-up showed four changes from last Saturday against Inverness - in came Macmillan, Macdonald and making their starting debuts were defender Kris Angus and striker Ian Murray, all in for Shewan, Charlesworth, Duncan and Lepkowski.

Buckie started well and created a number of chances in the first half, Munro's shot-come cross was collected by Murray who shot just wide of the goal from the right.

Murray then had the ball in the back of the net after a mix-up between the Violet's centre half and keeper, but the goal was chalked off as the ref ruled that the Jags striker had leaned on the home defender.

The Jags went ahead in 25 minutes when Murray played a great pass down the wing which Munro ran onto, crossing from the bye-line for CRAIG MACMILLAN to head into the net at the back post.

Buckie had a lucky escape five minutes later, the ball striking his arm of goalkeeper Main when outside his box, and the Jags fans were relieved to see the ref show a yellow card.

                                 HALF-TIME 0-1

The home side should have levelled the score five minutes after the restart but their forward sliced his shot wide of the goal.

Murray then came close on two occassions chipping the goalkeeper only for the ball to drop wide of the goal, then picking the ball up before hitting a curling shot from 20 yards which narrowly missed the target.

Violet then broke down the wing and their cross flashed across the face of the goal.

IAN MURRAY made it 2-0 in 60 minutes when he picked the ball up and drove in on goal, he drifted past a home defender before clipping the ball over Stewart for what was a great goal.

Several changes were then made and the home side were back in the match three minutes later when a mistake by Lepkowski let GARY ANDERSON in on goal and he slotted the ball past Main.

Paul Napier then shook the crossbar with a tremendous drive from 30 yards.

Both sides continued to make several changes to their line-ups, as is the norm in pre-season matches.

The Jags third goal came in 80 minutes when Danny Thomson crossed from the left and CHRIS ALLAN headed into the net at the back post.

                               FULL - TIME 1-3
