MATCH REPORT - FORRES MECHANICS 1 BUCKIE THISTLE 0

The Jags starting line-up had two changes from last week with Bruce and Macmillan returning with Murray (unavailable) and Lepkowski (injured).

Both Shalliker and Macmillan tried their luck from the edge of the box in the opening five minutes.

The Jags goal had an amazing escape in 12 minutes when former Jag Ryan Green rounded Main, hit a shot off the post and then hit the rebound right across the face of the goal.

Napier should have hit the target after a lay-off from Bruce but missed with his shot - when well placed.  Knight in the Forres goal then brought off two great saves, both from the head of Macmillan who was involved in a clash of heads with the second attempt.

The Jags were piling the pressure on, with Forres attacking on the break but despite several chances being created the score was goal-less at the interval.

                              HALF TIME 0-0

The deadlock was broken three minute into the second half when Forres broke down the right, the ball was crossed low to Green who laid the ball off to RICKY WARDROP who made no mistake from around the penalty spot.

The Jags were soon back on the attack and Bruce came close to levelling the scores in 57 minutes when his header was saved at the back post by Knight, Green then broke upfield and tested Main with a long range shot from 30 yards.

Charlie Brown was then introduced from the bench and he hit a great shot from the edge of the box which Knight again saved well by tipping the ball over the bar.

Shalliker hit the bar with a free-kick, then Charlesworth (on as a sub) broke well down the left but delayed in squaring the ball and it was cleared for a corner.

The play continued to swing from end to end, Forres came close to doubling their advantage with a volley from the edge of the box, then Charlesworth tested Knight with a shot-which the keeper held, low at his post.

Charlesworth then almost rounded Knight but the home keeper was in great form and dived at his feet to save.

There was drama and controversy in the final five minutes, firstly Moore was shown a straight red card for aiming a kick at Macrae.  Then with the Jags pushing payers forward in search of an equaliser, Forres broke upfield, Green played the ball forward in a "one-two", the linesman flagged for offside, yet the referee over-ruled this and awarded a penalty.  Bremner crashed the spot-kick off the bar and Main punched the rebound clear.

                               FULL TIME 1-0

SUMMARY -- A frustrating day for the Jags who created several chances in this match, only to find Knight in excellent form and he produced a number of great saves.  It was an entertaining game and the surprising thing is that only one goal was scored.
