ZANDER MAKES WINNING DEBUT FOR BUCKIE.
Buckie Thistle have signed 21 year old former Caley Thistle and Elgin City winger Zander Sutherland on a two year contract.
Inverness based Sutherland, made his debut in tonight's 3-2 Aberdeenshire Cup quarter-final win against Formartine United at Victoria Park, had an unsuccessful trial at Peterhead and said: "I had wanted to remain full time and did have options to go to Malta or Cyprus but at this moment I want to remain in Scotland as I have recently bought a house.
"I have known Buckie's Lewis MacKinnon, Criag Macmillan and Davie MacRae for a long time and I also played alongside Martin Charlesworth at Elgin.
"None of those lads has ever had a bad word to say about Buckie Thistle so I thought it would be quite interesting to join them.
"I had heard a lot about Buckie manager Gregg Carrol and when I first met him he seemed a very nice guy, honest and fair and dosen't appear to have any favourites so I am looking forward to working with him."
Sutherland has not had his injury problems to seek and is looking forward to a settled run in the Thistle side. He added: "I have been injured for so long with a cartilage problem and cracked tibia, although I did have a couple of games with Peterhead to help me regain my fitness, so I am really looking forward to making my Buckie debut."
Carrol said: We looked at Zander at the start of the season when we knew he had become available, but at the time he wanted to remain full time. When that turned out not to be possible we were delighted to take him to Victoria Park.
"I see him playing either in wide areas or through the middle. He not only gives us pace and trickery - he can also weigh in with a few goals as well."
