MATCH REPORT - BUCKIE ON THE MOVE, BUT KEITH ARE LEFT MAROONED
Buckie Thistle climbed above Highland League rivals Keith after a third win against the Maroons prompted thoughts of ending the 53 year wait for the league flag to fly over Victoria Park.
However, the win was achieved at a cost as winger Paul Napier, on as a second-half substitute, suffered ankle ligament damage. Jags manager Gregg Carrol was relieved his team had got back to winning ways after the Scottish Cup replay defeat. "We are doing well, working hard for each other just now."
Donnie Munro opened the scoring after 37 minutes, reacting quickly after a Greame Stewart shot saw the ball come off the post. A Keith defence without three regulars were then caught out as Stephen Bruce's cross was met by Sutherland on 55 minutes.
Cammy Keith's header reduced the leeway, but then David MacRae put a better complexion on the score with a close range finish in 78 minutes.
Keith manager Martin Allan was making no excuses for the defeat even though he lost the services of captain Darren Still with a head wound in the latter stages. He said "We didn't perform and the better team won."
