THREAT TO FINE JAGS FAN £5,000 - JUST CRAZY!

Buckie Thistle fans who work offshore, are unable to attend a big match or just like seeing a "re-run" of games will not now be able to view any more Highland League matches in the forseeable future after Highland League secretary John Grant warned Jags fan David Smith that he could face a fine of £5,000!!!

Jags president Mark Duncan today said "I was approached by Davids father in the boardroom at half-time during our match at Deveronvale, he was really worried because he said that Highland League secretary John Grant had warned his son that he could be fined £5,000 for recording matches by video and showing the highlights on YOUTUBE.

"I then went to speak to David himself who has confirmed that this was correct. To think that someone could be fined for giving up their own time both in attending matches, and the numerous hours spent every week in editing into highlights only to then be fined £5,000 is quite simply ridiculous.

"As far as I am concerned (and I know it is a view shared by thousands of Jags fans) - David has been providing a fantastic service - allowing Jags fans from all over the world to watch their team in action, he has also been providing a great service in promoting Highland League football itself as i know that fans from other clubs in the Highland League have also enjoyed watching their own teams in action.

"David has been providing a great service for the fans - who are the lifeblood of any club, some people however do not seem to share this view - these are the same people who however still want fans to attend matches - spending their hard earned cash - yet another example of the "double standards" we see-year-in-year out."
