Locos won the game with an injury time goal from Steven Park after Buckie fought their way back to 2 - 2 with goals from Davie MacRae and Craig MacMillan.

After a goal-less first half the home side looked to be cruising to victory after Neil Gauld's brilliant 56th minute strike and Michael Morrison's diving header, before the visitors stormed back - only to be undone deep into added time.

Buckie still top of the table, but one point from six is not championship-winning form and manager Gregg Carrol is bound to make changes for the tricky midweek trip to Formartine.

Inverurie manager Dave Cormie said: "I think Buckie expected to get at least a draw from today's game but I did feel we got it right in the second half.

"We got our 2 - 0 lead and it would have been points thrown away had we not got the late winner.

"I was delighted we got a rub of the green with the winner because Buckie were in the ascendency, but Mike Morrison always causes problems when we lift a high ball into the box and the big fella came up trumps for us again.

"Although Morrison gave them problems in the air, Neil Gauld was our man of the match.

"I wasn't particularly happy when we gave away the 2 - 0 lead in the last five minutes but we got that wee bit of luck and came away with all three points, something not too many people predicted."

Buckie Thistle manager Carrol pulled no punches and said: "We were a disgrace, we could have won the game with our first half performance but over the 90 minutes we got what we deserved, absolutely nothing.

"I look for determination and desire and we didn't show any of that at all today with too many players playing within themsleves, rather than playing as a unit."

Locos opened the scoring in the 56th minute when a long ball found Neil Gauld who took a touch before rifling a tremendous 16 yard drive wide of Darren Strong's outstreched arms and into the corner of the net.

The home side looked hungrier and it came as no surprise when they doubled their advantage in the 72nd minute, Gauld's free-kick from wide on the left found Mike Morrison and the defender's six-yard diving header gave Strong no chance.  The points looked safe but four minutes from time David MacRae threw Buckie a lifeline with a fierce 12 yard drive and two minutes later Craig MacMillan, lurking at the back post, turned home Mike MacDonald's deep cross to set up a grandstand finish.

Another hoisted ball into the Buckie box brought the winner when half a dozen players went up, everyone missed it and Steven Park had the simplest of tasks to stab the ball over the line from two yards.
