Around 500 hardy souls turned up at a chilly Victoria Park yesterday to pay tribute to long-serving Buckie Thistle midfielder Neil Davidson in his testimonial game against Neil Cooper's under 19 Aberdeen side. 

It took an excellent flying save from Aberdeen goalkeeper Stuart Nelson to turn a drive from Davidson round the post for a fruitless seventh minute corner.

The young Dons took the lead in the 16th minute when Nicky Low's pinpoint cross found Mitchell Megginson six-yards out and his diving header flew past Kevin Main.

Dominico Gibson almost made it 2-0 but his close-range effort was brilliantly saved by Darren Strong.
