MacMILLAN SIGNS NEW DEAL
Buckie Thistle have received a further boost with the news that Craig MacMillan has extended his stay at Victoria Park by a further two years.
The former Cove Rangers forward, who has been in fine form this season, penned a deal that will keep him in green and white hoops until 2012.
One of those delighted with securing the prolific forward's signature is Jags Manager Gregg Carrol.
"It was quite easy getting Craig to commit himself to another two years at Victoria Park," he told the 'Advertiser'. "His contract was coming up and he came back to us and said he was happy to stay.
"All credit to him for the way he has handled it as he did not want to drag things out.
"Craig had at least one other option but he had no hesitation in choosing to stay here."
While most fans associate MacMillan with hitting the net - he was the club's top scorer in 2007-08 and has been high up this season's scoring charts - the Thistle boss highlighted that he was a big asset off the field as well as on it.
He continued: "Craig is a good character to have in the dressing room.
"He likes his football and loves scoring goals, and this attitude rubs off on everybody else.
"His form this season in front of goal has not only been a boost for his own confidence but for the other forwards in the squad as well; it lays down a challenge for them.
"Craig does have things to add to his game and he is learning all the time, although when you have been top of the Highland League scoring charts for a lot of the season you are probably entitled to think you are doing a lot right."
Mr Carrol added that it was "business as usual" with regards to the team, who are sitting three points clear at the summit of the Highland League, and stressed that he was always on the lookout for players who could strengthen the squad.
