Last Friday (19th March 2010) sixteen year old Buckie Thistle fan David Smith received a top award at the Mansfield Hotel in Elgin.

The award in recognition of the service he provides in videoing Buckie Thistle matches then displaying them on "YouTube" for all fans of Highland League football.

The service that David provides in promoting Highland League football on the world wide web was recognised at the first ever Moray Young Citizen Awards Scheme which is jointly run by Moray Council, Grampian Police and Diageo.  It is an initiative designed to recognise outstanding contributions to the local community.

Getting underway last September, four key principles underpin the awards, namely: encouraging school spirit; recognising good community work; building self-esteem; developing an understanding of what citizenship means.
