MORRISON EYEING BUCKIE TROPHIES
Highland League champions Buckie Thistle are set to sign one of north football's most experienced central defenders, Michael Morrison, from Inverurie Locos on a two year contract for an undisclosed fee.
The 30-year-old Elgin based player, admits the chance to join the champions, who are closer to his home than the Black and Golds, was too good an opportunity to turn down.
He said: "I am very pleased to be joining the Highland League champions but disappointed to be leaving Locos as I am sure that Kenny Coull and Scott Buchan will carry on the good work done by Dave Cormie.
"The travelling over the last five years, firstly to Aberdeen then to Inverurie has certainly taken its toll so joining a club only 20 minutes up the road from my Elgin home is a really good move for myself.
"It's not often you get the opportunity to join the champions. My disciplinary record has improved over the years and Gregg Carrol has told me that he dosen't want to see me sitting in the stand serving a suspension, he wants me on the park and that's where I intend to be as I am joining Buckie to win things."
Jags manager Carrol said: "He is an uncompromising defender who can also play a bit, as well as being a threat at set pieces."
