Forthcoming Fixtures
The next few weeks will be a very busy period for the Jags, with a number of fixtures, all of which are of great importance to the Cup and League campaigns, respectively.
Saturday (29th) sees the start to our Scottish Cup Qualification campaign, with the long-awaited trip to Glesca, where the University students will no doubt provide a very warm reception as they seek their own chance of fame.
For those not travelling via the Supporters Club coach and perhaps unfamiliar with the location of the city's Garscube Sports Facility, directions and a place map have already appeared in an earlier News item, so feel free to refer to it.
On Tuesday 2nd October, we are, of course, away to Huntly in Round 1 of the Aberdeenshire Shield Competition, a competition we have not starred in, for a number of seasons now and another which would look good in our trophy cabinet!
On Saturday 6th October, we play host to a Rothes side which was on the end of a surprise 4-2 defeat at the hands of Fort William on the same day we beat Lossiemouth 0-3. They are likely to want to re-instate their street cred and will bounce back against the likes of Thistle, you can be sure.
The following Saturday, 13th October sees the short hop along the coast to PRP, to meet Deveronvale, always a tough encounter and one where no doubt John Coutts (an interested observer when we beat Keith in the County Cup Final at Huntly) will be keen to put one over on his former team-mates and fans.
It goes without saying that the Jags players will be out to emphasise Couttsy's folly in deciding to leave the Viccy at the end of his contract, while the new additions to the side over the summer, while having played in the win over ‘Vale in the Aberdeenshire Cup win, also have a point to prove.
On Saturday 20th, we have another "Clash of the Titans", as the high-flying Inverurie Locos come to call; it's not often that two such tough fixtures follow on each other's heels and this will be a severe test on the Jags' player pool, should the previous week's tussle at Banff produce any injury worries.
All in all, a demanding, yet exciting period for the Jags fans to anticipate and, hopefully enjoy, which will prove a measure of our team's aspirations and playing ability. Enjoy!!
