MATCH REPORT - FRASERBURGH 2 BUCKIE THISTLE 4
Holders Buckie Thistle will meet Cove Rangers in the final of the Aberdeenshire Cup on September 11 after a pulsating 90 minutes at Bellslea Park last night.
Buckie should have taken the lead in the 10th minute when Zander Sutherland sent in a superb cross but with only goalkeeper Paul Leask to beat Martin Charlesworth took his eye off the ball six yards out and completely missed his header.
Eight minutes later Sutherland forced Leask into a great diving block as the Jags winger was bearing down on goal.
At the other end Graham Johnston turned in the box and sent a dipping drive just over as play swung from end to end at a furious pace.
The visitors were awarded a penalty kick in the 25th minute when Bryan Hay upended Ian Murray in the box and referee Craig Sim immediately pointed to the spot. Murray dusted himself down and nonchalantly sent Leask the wrong way for the opener.
Fraserburgh scored a tremendous equaliser in the 43rd minute. Jamie Beagrie left Lewis MacKinnon for dead in the box and fired a drive low past Kevin Main into the corner of the net.
The Broch were also awarded a penalty on the hour mark when Beagrie was pushed inside the box by MacKinnon. Hale took the resultant spot kick and he sent the goalkeeper the wrong way. Seven minutes later Buckie drew level when Jamie Shewan met an Andy Low corner to head home.
In the 75th minute the visitors regained the lead when Russell McBride brought down Murray on the right and from Low's pinpoint set-piece MacKinnon powered a header high past Leask.
In the 90th minute Murray notched his second goal of the night when he turned in a Paul Napier cross from the tightest of angles .
