AWARD JOY FOR THISTLE YOUTH COACHES
Buckie Thistle Football Development (BTFD) were celebrating becoming only one in four clubs in the north of Scotland to gain a prestigious SFA quality award.
Last Saturday before the Jags' home game against Rothes saw Mark Slater from the SFA present BTFD Chair, Dave Findlay with the Quality Development Award. The award is the middle step on a gruelling three-rung ladder, with the club already the proud possessor of the Standard Award and working hard on gaining the Community Award.
Mr Findlay noted that it was a "great achievement" for the club before going on to thank those who had made the success possible.
"When you consider that BTFD have only been going for five years and we are only one of four clubs in the north to have gained a Development Award from the SFA, I think this counts as a great achievement," he told the 'Advertiser'.
"The coaches have been putting in a lot of work to keep standards high and the kids themselves put in a lot of work attending training twice a week over and above their school games.
"A lot of thanks must go to Lindsey Newlands, who has done a power of administrative work which has been as, if not more, important than the other work which has gone into getting this award. She has pulled lots of stuff together for this and other awards and the outcomes have been a great credit to her.
