MATCH REPORT JAGS 3 NAIRN 1
Thistle's Charlesworth is double trouble for Nairn
Buckie Thistle gave themselves a perfect tonic before Saturday's Scottish Cup fifth-round tie against Brechin City at Victoria Park.
Martin Charlesworth was the home side's match winner with two brilliant pieces of opportunism to seal the 3-1 win against Nairn County.
Jags manager Gregg Carrol said: "It was a very good three points. We played some really good football despite the surface. I was far from happy when we lost a sloppy goal but we recovered well from the setback and took the game to County again.
"I was pleased we got the ball down and played some good stuff. Our three-man midefield of Robbie Brown, Graeme Stewart and man of the match Gary Clark were superb and up front Martin Charlesworth once again worked his socks off, reaping his reward with two execellent second-half goals."
County manager Les Fridge said: "I was disappointed with their opening goal as we had a couple of chances to clear the ball and didn't.
"Their third goal was clearly offside, but when you go to places such as Buckie these things happen. We didn't do enough to win the game and probably got what we deserved"
The home side took the lead on the half-hour mark when Bob Duncan's deep free kick picked out Hamish Munro at the back post and he rammed the ball past Callum Donaldson for the operner.
County bounced back and were level within four minutes, Steve Mackay notching his 17th goal of the season with a great drive.
Eight minutes after the restart Buckie restored their advantage, Charlesworth nodding home and in the 70th minute the former Elgin City forward made it 3-1 with a blistering angled drive into the far corner of the net.
