BUCKIE BACK ON TOP WITH BROWN EARLY STRIKE

Buckie Thistle moved back to the top of the Highland League thanks to Robbie Brown's fifth-minute strike which proved to be enough to see off Rothes at Mackessack Park last night.

The title holders got their noses in front when Martin charlesworth laid the ball back to Brown at the edge of the box and the midfielder rattled a shot into the net to Ricky Horne's left.

Despite having the best of the first half they were unable to add a second.

Early in the second half Horne made a fine stop to deny Charlesworth who spun quickly on an Andy Low through ball to fire an 18 yard effort towards the goalkeeper's bottom right.

Rothes tried to freshen up their frontline in the final quarter-of-an-hour as they looked for a leveller but they were unable to breach the Buckie defence and the Jags held on to move two points clear of Turriff United.
